Amazing August for Our ETA Students at the USTA Hard Court Nationals!
Our Evert Tennis Academy students had a strong showing this August. During the past week, Evert girls competed in the USTA Hard Court National Championships in various age divisions in Rome, GA and San Diego, CA.
At the USTA Girls 14’s Nationals in Rome, GA, Elaine Chervinsky won the Bronze Ball in the Singles Main Draw. After falling to Robin Montgomery in the semifinals, Elaine defeated Katja Wiersholm 6-2 6-0, and claimed third place. In doubles, Madison Sieg won the Bronze Ball as well with her partner Hibah Shaikh. The pair defeated Sophia Strugnell and Alexandra Torre in a close three set match 4-6 7-6(2) 6-2.
At the USTA Girls 16’s Nationals in San Diego, CA, Angelica Blake claimed victory in both singles and doubles competition, thus winning two gold balls. In the final of the Singles Main Draw, Angelica defeated her doubles partner Nikki Redelijk in three sets 3-6 6-2 6-4. Later on, Angelica and Nikki joined forces and defeated the no. 5 seeded Kylie Collins and Shelly Yaloz 6-2 7-5 in the final of the Doubles Main Draw. Angelica’s outstanding performance at the USTA Hard Court National Championships secured her a wildcard to the ITF Junior US Open next month in New York.
Last but not least, Evert Tennis Academy student Ann Li reached the quarterfinals in both singles and doubles competition at the USTA Girls 18’s Nationals in San Diego, CA.
Now, we are getting ready to start a new full time year on August 21st, 2017 with many returning and also new students. Looking forward to see what the 2018 year holds for our students!
