Micke Kontinen Caps off a Spectacular Year at ETA
2009-07-13 .jpg) Sixteen-year-old, Micke Kontinen, of Finland joined the High Performance program at the Evert Tennis Academy less than a year ago.
In that time, he has seen his ITF junior ranking rise steadily. Kontinen, the winner of the Panama Bowl singles in March, 2009 and semi-finalist at the ITF Waco, Texas Tournament in May, completed two extremely successful weeks in Morocco early this summer.
At the Raquette D’Or (the week of June 8th), Kontinen reached the semifinals of singles and the finals of doubles in the Grade 2 event. The following week at Mediterrannee Avenir, Kontinen captured the singles trophy at the Grade 1 event. With his strong quarter-final finish at the Airberlin German Juniors (also a Grade 1) the week of July 6th, Kontinen reached a career high ranking of 55 this morning granting him direct access to Grand Slam Junior events in the coming year. |
